Dear Colleagues,
It’s a great pleasure for us to announce
the Second International Liver Symposium, which we have
first organized in 2004. We aimed to gather the liver
studies conducted in basic and clinical fields and to
contribute to the communication between disciplines. The
importance of such studies have increased by the time,
because numerous research reports and studies conducted
in this field suggest the need for further research
models at molecular level. There is still no certain
data about how and when the hepatic regeneration begins
and how this process ends after a possible damage
related to toxic agents, drugs or alcohol. Thus, it can
be assumed that every field of medicine may have
relationship with the liver issue. This condition has
lead to new collaboration requirements between the basic
and clinical fields. At this point, it would be very
beneficial to take into consideration the unresolved
subjects in the context of a workshop programme with
international participation. For this reason we think
that collaboration and coordination on an international
level would be beneficial and was the reason for
organizing this symposium. Many scholars from Turkey and
other countries, from different branches were invited to
the symposium. Some methods like experimental animal
utilization, cell culture and stereology, which can be
useful in liver studies were also included. Accepted
abstracts will be published in the Cell & Tissue Biology
Research Journal. Besides this, we want to share the
historical and touristic beauties of our country with
our guests. We would be very happy to host you in
Cappadocia, home of the Fairy Chimneys, which one only
can behold in this region in the world and has attracted
people for centuries with its different ambiance and
beauty. We hope to see you at the symposium.

behalf of the Organizing Committee
